Yet another busy week ahead here at your favourite yacht club. Tomorrow the bar will be open in the evening - it always is on a Thursday nowadays. We have a private dinner in the Library, a meeting in the Billiard Room and the Bridge Club will be in the main Dining Room, it'll be busy - but not too busy to serve you. Do come in for a drink or a meal, or just to relax in the club.
On Friday we are holding a private drinks party to celebrate the birthday of one of our club members and on Saturday it's much the same kind of thing; a private birthday party for one of members! This really is a great place for a party. The bar will be open and the kitchen will be fully staffed. I have been told the Bistro Menu is excellent, why don't you see for yourself?
There will be many more such festive happenings as the season progresses - not just birthdays but celebrations all round. And then we have the Grand Summer Ball - have you confirmed your booking?
A note from Paula Howard:
The mini-bridge lessons are now finished but a group of us are honing our newly acquired skills on Friday mornings in the club between 10.30 and 12.30. If anyone would like to join us they are welcome and we would be happy to teach them the basics. Mini bridge is a precursor to "proper bridge", and we shall be starting a 26 week course in September in the club, tutored by Julie Lake. If you are interested in joining either group, please contact the office or Paula Howard on 01621 781117
And another slightly more sombre note from David Booth:
Paddy Booth died peacefully at home on the evening of 23 April following a short illness. Aged 97, he had been a member of the RBYC since 1929. He was the son of C.C. (Bo) and Irene Booth and elder brother of the late John Booth. He is survived by wife Thelma; children David, Diana, Brian, Susie and Chris; niece Jill; thirteen grand-children, and one great grand-child. Details of the funeral arrangements will be posted as they become known.
