EAORA / RORC East Coast Race
Friday 19th June 2009
Previous Event spacer Next Event

The RORC East Coast race, the final east coast Fastnet qualifier and the EAORA week feeder race, started at Harwich with a good westerly breeze.

An exciting downwind start from the Beacon Hill line saw yachts race away along the south side of the Harwich deep water channel toward Rough, the first turning mark.

Most boats dropped kites at this point with hardy few managing to carry small asymmetric spinnakers to North Shipwash. It was a bear away at North Shipwash where VMG kites went up once more for the 110 mile leg to the finish at Ijmuiden.

The wind held up all night and ensured a swift trip with most vessels finishing on Saturday morning.

Dark & Stormy won class 3 with Boatix second and Amazon third.

Titian won class 2 followed by Jaguar and Red Macaw.

Oz Privateer won class 1 with Inn Spirit and Resting Goose taking second and third respectively.

Overall, Oz Privateer won with Inn Spirit second and Titian third.
