Ariel RBOD No 20 is for sale

• RBOD class members please be aware that Ariel is FOR SALE. Hopefully even at this time of the season its not too late to find a last minute purchaser. Ariel is presently afloat and fitted out for racing (eg Burnham week 2012). My phone numbers are 01371 870312 : 07860 690736 + email ashley@ashleytooth.com

• This sudden announcement is unfortunately due to reasons of health. Any plans for continuing with one-design racing seem impossible for me but I will certainly find other ways of being afloat!

• ARIEL is in good condition. Since 1989 she has been thoroughly repainted and fitted out each year for the new season. Additionally In 2009 the hull was fully overhauled with replacement keel bolts, rudder pintles and a brand new deck.

• Sails were recently replaced. The Mainsail and Spinnaker in 2011 and a new Jib this year 2012. Included in the sale will be quite an inventory of spare parts and fittings, current paint remnants, rope, flags, spars and other items. Ariel is a fast boat as other class members will testify.

• Reasonable offers will be taken seriously and are invited for discussion now. Interested parties are welcome to visit Ariel on the mooring and trial sailing is possible by arrangement. I do not want to get involved in chartering her, as the boat needs to be sold as soon as possible.

• Finally the big secret is out that our whole Classic fleet will be celebrating 80th Birthdays! The first RBODs were built in 1932 and I reckon Ariel, being no 20, was probably launched around spring 1933 (the same spring that I was launched also!)
