Racing Rules Seminar
Saturday 1st June 2013 10:00 – 12:00 at the RBYC
All yachtsmen are invited to a Rules Seminar given by John Doerr to update their knowledge of the new 2013 rules.
John will focus on what he calls 'The Structure' of the rules of Part 2 (When Boats Meets) concentrating on the need for sailors to be able to apply the rules at the speed of a race, rather than in the protest room or bar afterwards.
John Doerr was Wayfarer World Champion before moving to the Finn Class where he competed in the Finn Gold Cup and two Olympic Trials as a member of an early version of Team GBR development squad. He has been involved in the Racing Rules since 1985 being a member of both the RYA and ISAF Racing Rules Committee. He has been a jury member at the Olympic Games on 5 occasions (1996-2012) and a jury member for the America's Cup on 4 occasions including the current AC34. As far as the rules are concerned, he firmly believes they should be used to make our sport work for the benefit of all to ensure fair, fun racing and not as a weapon.
The seminar is open to members and non members alike, if you would like to attend please contact the club office on info@rbyc.org.uk (or just turn up on the day).
